THE EVENT 2016
This invitation only summer event with the attendance of the Ambassador of Colombia – HE MR Néstor Osorio Londoño was booked up way in advance.
We booked the energetic band La MambaNegra – La Mambanegra are no ordinary salsa outfit. Indeed, their leader Jacobo Vélez prefers to believe that they inhabit a genre all of their own. He calls it ‘break salsa’, on account of the band’s easy assimilation of hip-hop, ragga and knife-sharp funk. Hailing from the Colombian salsa capital of Cali, this nine-piece have been grooving hard for four years now, their polyrhythmic, horn-heavy and thoroughly modern sound quickly earning them a devoted following across South America and beyond.
It was a colorful display of energetic music, dance and art. Chef Flavio Evandro Amaral provided the great tasting food menu and Stephen Vincent told the story of the event through his immersive photography (Click on Event Images below).
As usual and expected at every Open Embassy event guests including media, music industry and ambassadors take no time to network and exchange business cards.

Over the course of the five years I have been working at the Brazilian Embassy, I have managed to build up a network of suppliers, which helps me immensely when it comes to finding Latin American ingredients.
